The Voice UK Returns: 6 Pretty Cool Things Past Contestants Have Done

The Voice UK is back tonight, and with Kylie Minogue and Ricky Wilson joining Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am on the coaching line-up, we're interested to see if the show will produce its first globe-straddling superstar this year. The X Factor did it with Leona Lewis in its third season - can the BBC One rival do the same?

But that's not to say it's been doom and gloom for everyone who took part over the last two years - and below you can see six of the coolest things former contestants have gone on to do since competing.

Becky Hill and Leah McFall (WENN)

Feature on a BRIT-nominated album
Who: Becky Hill
What: Becky made a quiet exit in the first season's semi-final results show, the second least-watched episode in the series' two-year history. Since then she's been playing the long game, to spectacular effect - she sang 'Powerless' on Rudimental's debut album, which is now nominated for a BRIT, and toured with them throughout the summer on the festival circuit. But that's not all...

Sing the vocals on one of 2013's biggest dance hits
Who: Becky Hill again
What: Becky, formerly mentored by Jessie J, is also the big-lunged singer behind Wilkinson's critically acclaimed and massive-selling dance hit 'Afterglow'. What a tune.

Collaborate with a Saturday
Who: Vince Kidd
What: Vanessa White of The Saturdays was known to be a close chum of Vince Kidd, so it was nice to see the pair getting to collaborate on his song 'The Zoo'. The girlband star got to indulge in something a little different to what she usually does with the band, and Vince looked thrilled to have his BFF with him.

Feature on a will.i.am song
Who: Leah McFall
What: Leah is poised to bring out some original material in 2014 after narrowly missing out on winning the 2013 season, but in the meantime she can be heard on a special version of her mentor's smash 'Bang Bang'. The re-made version features on the Now! 86 compilation.

Bag a role in a major musical
Who: Cleo Higgins
What: Former Cleopatra star Cleo was eliminated in a blaze of glory last season when she bought the house down to En Vogue's 'Don't Let Go', and the success has helped her to score a big role in a touring production of Thriller Live!, which is currently on the road around the UK. The Michael Jackson show has sold more than two million tickets worldwide.

Sing on a Hollywood blockbuster soundtrack
Who: Bo Bruce
What: As if being the first graduate from the show to score a Top 10 album wasn't enough, Bo Bruce also featured on the soundtrack to hit Hollywood movie Star Trek Into Darkness. Her song was co-written with Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody and was released as a bonus track on the UK edition of the OST.
