Billy Burns and James Lowe have been ruled out of the Scotland match through injury.

Fly-half Burns has not recovered from the groin issue which cut short his try-scoring full international debut against Georgia on Sunday.

New Zealand-born winger Lowe missed the 23-10 victory over the Lelos and will be absent again this weekend, also due to a groin problem.

Captain Johnny Sexton and centre Robbie Henshaw should be in contention to play having returned to training following their respective hamstring and groin injuries.

Flanker Will Connors will continue to be monitored after being forced off for a head injury assessment last weekend.

Winger Keith Earls (back), scrum-half Conor Murray (dead leg) and hooker Rob Herring (rib) should be available to Farrell.

Prop Ed Byrne will remain out due to an ongoing calf issue, while uncapped duo Harry Byrne and Eric O'Sullivan are training with the squad this week.

What's our prediction?

The last time Scotland took on Ireland at the Aviva, it resulted in a narrow 19-12 Guinness Six Nations loss. And their sense of frustration was highlighted when skipper Stuart Hogg knocked on in the act of touching down for a second-half try.

The Scots have not won in the Irish capital for 10 years, but they showed their mettle on the road by recently beating Wales at Parc y Scarlets, which was a first triumph on Welsh soil since 2002. Expect this to be close.

Predicted score: Ireland 15 Scotland 12
