Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico is in intensive care following a horse riding accident.

The 29-year-old flew to Spain following PSG's Ligue 1 title win and Saturday and today has been taken to hospital after colliding with another horse in the El Rocio region of Huelva.

Rico was airlifted to hospital and in a "serious condition", an official club statement read, and now in the Intensive Care Unit at Seville's Virgen del Rocio hospital.

Local media add that Rico suffered a blow to his head during the incident.

The goalkeeper has also spent time at both Sevilla and Fulham during his career. Sevilla tweeted on Sunday: "Lots of strength and a speedy recovery."

Rico was on the bench as PSG won a record-breaking 11th Ligue 1 title on Saturday. Lionel Messi scoring in a mediocre 1-1 draw at Racing Strasbourg.

The result put PSG on 85 points, four ahead of RC Lens, who secured second place and a place in next season's Champions League - a first for the Sang et Or in 21 years - with a 3-0 hammering of AC Ajaccio in a boiling hot Bollaert-Delelis stadium.
