FENISCOWLES’ Sehan Weerasinghe shone with bat and ball to steer his side to a six-wicket win in week eight of the Ribblesdale League.

He took 5-32 but Ribblesdale Wanderers still made a respectable 160-8, Ryan Canning (52) and Hans Campbell (36) top scoring.

However, Feniscowles reached their target for the loss of four wickets to give them a comfortable win as Weerasinghe made 34 and was supported by Raza Hussain (29) and Fara Muhammad (59 not out).

Unbeaten leaders Settle visited Earby looking to keep the gap to the other title contenders.

They got off to the worst possible start as both openers were dismissed without a run on the board.

Ashen Silva steadied the ship with 62 and Robbie Davidson made 49no out of a total of 182-6, Zak Qwabe taking 4-51.

In reply, Earby were bowled out for just 88 to give Settle another win and maintain their lead at the top.

Oswaldtwistle batted first in their match and posted a score of 145-9.

Oliver Clare made 35 and Kurt Smithson 32no as Salesbury’s Liam Parkinson took 4-27.

In reply, Salesbury were bowled out for 105. Tom Stones top scored with 31, while Andreas Sudnik took 4-33 with two wickets each for Dean Martin, Kurt Smithson and Niall Heyes.

Brinscall were looking to get back on track after an excellent start to the season against a Padiham side who have the look of potential challengers for the title.

Brinscall batted first and found runs hard to come by against an accurate Padiham bowling attack.

Jonathan McDonald (30), Nisal Francisco (27) and Peter Berry (25) enabled them to make 134-8 in their 45 overs as Ben Swindells took 3-28.

In reply, Padiham raced to victory in just 18 overs. Jack Edgar made 63no and captain Owen Deakin-Pickard 61no in a 10-wicket win.

Barnoldswick, batting first, made 156-9 against Read.

In reply, Read got over the line with the penultimate ball of the final over, with the last pair at the wicket, to give them a narrow one-wicket win.

Baxenden and Cherry Tree met again after their 20/20 clash the previous evening.

Baxenden batted first and, thanks to Jacob Johnson (31) and Adam Masood (29) made 139-8. Ross Bretheron took 3-25 and Hassan Mughal 3-38.

In reply, Owen Elwood made 66 off 70 deliveries, including 12 fours and a six, and Cherry Tree looked to be coasting to a win with Charlie Elwood making 30.

However, in a tense conclusion, they just got over the line with the last pair at the wicket.

Unbeaten Settle are top of the table with 82 points from seven matches, followed by Padiham with 74 points - also from seven - with Cherry Tree third on 71points having played eight matches.
