Three players who impressed in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham

Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge had a point to prove after he was left on the bench for Liverpool’s 2-1 win against West Brom. The Reds striker scored twice to give Jurgen Klopp something to think about ahead of their trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday evening. His first underlined his predatory instincts to get on the end of Marko Grujic’s deflected cross. Sturridge finished off a sweeping move to take his tally to three for the season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Of Liverpool’s youngsters on show, Trent Alexander-Arnold showed was the most impressive. The 18-year-old started at right-back and put in a physical performance. Alexander-Arnold was singled out as a promising prospect in Steven Gerrard’s autobiography and it’s easy to see why after Tuesday night’s cup clash.

Danny Ings

It was great to see Danny Ings back in a Liverpool shirt after his long injury lay-off. The England Under-21 international ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during an early training session under Klopp. At the time, Ings had broken into the Liverpool starting line-up and looked to be on the verge of establishing himself as a first-team regular. The 23-year-old looked sharp in his cameo against Tottenham with one sumptuous flick to set Sturridge free before Ings was denied by a superb Michel Vorm save.
