WWE Hell in a Cell: What time does it start, where can I watch it for free online, full match card and more

WWE’s latest pay per view is this Sunday night, with Raw and Smackdown combining for the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view

Typically one of the more bruising and hard-hitting affairs in the annual sports entertainment calendar, the show features a handful of matches to be played out within the confines of the demonic Hell in a Cell structure.

This match type has been a hit with fans ever since the first one some 21 years ago when Shawn Michaels defeated The Undertaker after the shock debut of the Deadman’s brother, Kane. A year later, Mick Foley, wrestling as Mankind, made history for sustaining two terrible falls in a match also against the Undertaker. Two decades further on, Foley will be the guest referee for a cell match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman.

Also in the latest instalment; Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton feature in a cell bout. The show also features the first title defence of recently-crowned Raw Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey as she battles previous incumbent Alexa Bliss.

When is it?

The event takes place on Sunday night (into Monday morning here in the UK), 16th September 2018. The show takes place in San Antonio, Texas, at the AT&T Centre.

What time does it start?

The action starts on Sunday evening from 11pm BST with a one-hour ‘Kick Off’ show that typically features match build-up, pre-event interviews and sometimes one preliminary bout. The main portion of the show gets started at around midnight and will last until just before 4am.

Where can I watch it?

UK viewers can watch it on Sky Sports Box Office either live, or via one of the repeat showings. Repeats begin on Monday, September 17th and run through to Thursday August 20th, showing daily at 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm and 10pm. The event will cost £14.95.

WWE are also showing the event on their own streaming service, WWE Network, which is available via subscription at £9.99.

Can I stream it for free?

Yes – but only if you’re a new subscriber to WWE Network. WWE offers a month’s free trial for new sign-ups, so book up before the show starts and you won’t pay a penny.

What will the main event be?

There are one or two contenders, but a decent bet looks to be the Hell in a Cell match between champ AJ Styles and his number one contender, Samoa Joe.

Styles has been a fighting champion but looks to have met his match in the sinister Joe, who has shown he has no limits as to how far he’ll go to get under the skin of his foe – even bringing Styles’ family into the mix in the build-up to this weekend’s event.
