Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood has spoken out about her split from co-star Connor Swindells, after the pair decided to end their relationship last year.

Aimee and Connor, who played on-screen boyfriend and girlfriend Aimee Gibbs and Adam Groff in the Netflix series, first met while filming the show back in 2018 but didn't get together until shooting had finished.

The couple kept their relationship pretty private, and fans only realised they were together IRL after the show aired, but sadly decided to go their separate ways in 2020.

Speaking about the breakup, Aimee explained, "We’d had some time apart and then we realised that maybe the relationship wasn’t serving us both," in an interview with Grazia.

"We still really love each other and respect each other. It was an okay breakup, it wasn’t dramatic," she continued.

Describing her emotions after the split, Aimee added, "I felt like a dam burst, then all of a sudden I was hurting, but I needed to be there, because I’d become a bit numb and it was nice to suddenly feel everything again."

Speaking about the importance of having time alone, Aimee continued, "I find it hard when I’m in relationships to maintain my sense of who I am. I’m very independent, but I’m also quite impressionable. I can be taken away from myself quite easily, I kind of start betraying myself and compromising my integrity, to keep someone else happy. That’s why it’s really important for me to have time alone."

We hope both Aimee and Connor are doing OK. Hands up who can't wait to see these two back on screen in Sex Education season 3?
