Alex Jones reveals the TV show that made her go into labour

Alex Jones surprised The One Show viewers when the host revealed the unusual thing that made her go into labour when she was pregnant with her second son Kit.

The TV presenter was talking to actor Callum Woodhouse, who starred in ITV's The Durrells, on Thursday (2 September) night, when she said the comedy-drama's final series triggered her labour in 2019.

"You know I'm a huge fan – a super fan – of The Durrells, and I've got to say thanks to you and the rest of the cast because the very last episode made me go into labour," she said.

Callum was shocked by the revelation, responding "Oh my God. That's the best review I've had."

Explaining the moment she went into labour, Alex continued: "Honestly, it was so emotional right at the end of The Durrells that, basically, the oxytocin went through the roof and out came Kit."

Alex gave birth to her second child Kit in May 2019.

The presenter surprised viewers on The One Show by calling into make the announcement live.

She was seen cuddling her little bundle, Kit Thomson, and telling presenters Matt Baker and Angela Scanlon that her first son Teddy, now three, had taken to being a big brother "like a duck to water".

Alex also took to Instagram and thanked NHS staff for being "heroes", and said that her husband Charlie and her were "besotted" with the newborn.

She wrote: 'And then there were 4!!! Little Kit Thomson arrived safely and very speedily last Monday at 2.21am weighing a healthy 7lbs 3."
