London’s leading arts figures reveal the books, films, TV and more they're loving in lockdown.

Author and comedian Adam Kay gave us his recommendations, from Parasite to Belgravia.

Reading

I’ve just finished The Magnificent Sons by Justin Myers. It’s only out this month, but I was lucky to get sent an early proof. It’s all about the complicated issues of families and sexuality, the writing is pacy, smart and funny, and the storytelling is first-rate.

Podcast

I’m obsessed with the St Elwick’s Neighbourhood Association Newsletter Podcast. It‘s the funniest audio I’ve ever heard. Malcolm Durridge (aka comedian Mike Wozniak) provides the St Elwickian local news and features in podcast format, following the cruel cut in funding to the printed newsletter.

TV

My favourite recent bit of TV at the moment is Belgravia on ITV. I think it might be the worst writing I’ve ever seen on television. Extraordinary stuff – particularly seeing the excellent cast attempt to perform constant CPR on their lines to make it in any way watchable.

Music

As far as I’m concerned, Donald Glover can do no wrong, and the latest Childish Gambino album, 3.15.20, maintains his flawless form.

Film

I’ll be honest, I’ve not been out to the cinema much recently – I think there’s some kind of plague going around or something? – but the last thing I watched was Parasite, which was every bit as good as the hype told me it would. Plus it made Donald Trump furious – what more can you ask for?
