Netflix has cast a young Queen Charlotte for Bridgerton's anticipated (and as-yet-untitled) spin-off.

Golda Rosheuvel will return to the prequel as Queen Charlotte, with Line of Duty's India Amarteifio playing a younger Charlotte in the eight-part origin story.

Netflix says: "Centred on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen's marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton."

The drama will also feature Adjoa Andoh reprising her role as Lady Danbury and Ruth Gemmell back as Bridgerton matriarch Lady Violet.

Amarteifio starred in series 4 of Line of Duty as Sophie Huntley, the daughter of former DCI Roz Huntley (Thandiwe Newton) and Nick Huntley (Lee Ingleby).

The actress has also starred in Doctor Who and Netflix's Sex Education.

A table read for the Queen Charlotte spin-off is underway, with Netflix sharing some black and white images from the event this week.
