Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon has been accused of abusive behaviour towards Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia in the '90s TV show.

The actress detailing a number of alleged "disturbing incidents" caused by Whedon which continue to traumatise her. She claimed that he was "casually cruel", berating her when she told him she was pregnant and calling her fat. He allegedly then fired her after she gave birth. Carpenter said the abuse "triggered a chronic physical condition from which I still suffer". The actress shared her account on social media.

Both Sarah Michelle-Gellar and Michelle Trachtenberg have backed their former co-star's claims. The former said that while she was proud of playing Buffy Summer in the popular series, she doesn't want her name to be associated with Whedon. "I stand with all the survivors of abuse and am proud of them for speaking out."

Trachtenberg then re-shared Gellar's post, writing: "I am brave enough now as a 35 year old woman.... To repost this. Because. This must. Be known. As a teenager. With his not appropriate behavior....very. Not. Appropriate. So now. People know. What Joss. Did."

Whedon is also known for his work on films including The Avengers and Justice League. Carpenter said she decided to go public with her experiences of abuse after actor Ray Fisher accused Whedon of "abusive, unprofessional and unacceptable" behaviour on the set of Justice League. His character Cyborg was written out of the forthcoming Flash movie.
