Cameron Diaz describes parenthood as 'huge blessing'

Cameron Diaz has reflected on the perks of being an "older parent".

The There's Something About Mary actress and her husband Benji Madden welcomed daughter Raddix via surrogate in 2019.

Discussing motherhood during a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Cameron shared that she is loving spending time at home with her little girl and has no plans to go back to work on Hollywood film sets.

"I think because I am an older parent... and I really worked hard to get a child... I'm very fortunate to have been able to take the time to do it and be there with her. That's the hugest blessing," she said. "I love it, I feel like it's the best thing... Well, I don't feel like it, I know it's the best thing I've ever done in my life."

Cameron went on to describe how she deals with toddler meltdowns by getting Raddix to express her emotions.

"I feel like as a parent it's your job to just be like, 'OK, so what are you feeling here," the 49-year-old noted, before explaining her "mom checklist". "I feel like as a parent my job is to help her find the words to her emotions, her experience, what she's going through, and be able to help her identify that, and then move through it."
