Charlotte Crosby announces she's having a baby, after fearing she would not be able to conceive

Charlotte Crosby is pregnant. The reality star shared her and boyfriend Jake Ankers' happy news via her Instagram page last night, posting a video showing a positive pregnancy test, as well as footage of the 31-year-old telling her family about the impending arrival and of a scan, in which she hears the baby's heartbeat.

In the caption, she wrote: 'A moment I wasn’t sure would ever be mine is here, it’s mine (and Jake's) and I couldn’t be happier to be sharing it with you all……I'm having a baby.'

Charlotte sadly previously suffered an ectopic pregnancy – when a fertilised egg implants itself outside of the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes – in 2016. This incident was so severe that, as a result, her right fallopian tube and ovary were removed by surgeons. The Geordie Shore star had previously revealed that, when she heard the news, she thought: 'f**k, I’m not gonna be able to have kids... this is awful.'

She also revealed on her podcast Values and Vibrators last year that she couldn't forgive ex and former Geordie Shore cast-mate Gary Beadle for not showing up to support her as she went through this devastation, as he was away filming. She says that he also cheated on her while she was in hospital.

It is possible for an ectopic pregnancy to cause infertility, but that's not typically the case. According to a 2001 study, over half of women treated for ectopic pregnancy conceived without medical help and had a healthy pregnancy a year later, with 67% having a healthy pregnancy two years later.

In the announcement video, Charlotte's mum and dad, Letita and Gary, can be seen ecstatically hugging and kissing their daughter as they hear the news, with Gary saying that he's 'never seen her [Charlotte] so happy.'

Here's wishing Charlotte and Jake all the very best!
