🛒 Reasons to buy: Helps reduce condensation in your car

If you have an older car, you will know that having a clear windshield in the winter is quite a struggle.

Blasting the heating will only do so much, as will trying to quickly wipe your windscreen that has misted up at traffic lights.

A gadget that may be worth trying this year is the Pingi Car and Home Dehumidifier. The budget-friendly £8 buy is essentially a mini, portable dehumidifier that sits in your car window and helps to soak up excess moisture in the air, resulting in clearer windows.

So long steamy cars and hard-to-see window screens, as this handy dehumidifier absorbs and stores any excess moisture from the air, in turn leaving you with clear windows and an odourless car.

With the cold weather arriving in full force, there's never been a better time to snap one up.

Why we rate it

The compact dehumidifier bag absorbs moisture, condensation, mist, dampness and odours (great for anyone with pets), and can be used time and time again.

The car dehumidifier contains silica that helps eliminate condensation from the air. It effectively absorbs the moisture and fills the dehumidifier up with the unwanted water.

You'll see the humidity indicator (the circle in the middle of the bag) will slowly change from blue to pink as you use it. Once the indicator has changed to pink that means that it has reached absorption capacity and must be put in the microwave to be reset and dry out.

Simply pop it in the microwave for six minutes to "recharge"(or some shoppers say they leave it on a radiator). Once it's back to blue again you're good to use the dehumidifer all over again.

What the reviews say

With over 24,000 reviews (55% of which are five-star and a further 21% four-star), it's clear that thousands of drivers are pretty sold on this little gadget.

Many shoppers say that they can't believe how effective the "clever" little bag is. Many say they will "always have one in the car" from now on.

One shopper explained that she had been having real problems with condensation in her car, and even when she wiped the window it still took around 10 minutes at least to clear, plus, on cold days the condensation turned to ice and was even more difficult to manage.

She bought the dehumidifier as a last resort and has been completely "surprised" by how well it has worked. Not only has it saved her time, it has also saved her "stress" when getting in her car on a chilly day.

While there are many positive reviews, some customers have said that the dehumidifier hasn't cleared as much of the windscreen as they would have liked, but do say that the gadget is "better than nothing". So, for £8, it could be worth giving it a go, right?
