The Craft is being remade with a female director at the helm
The teen classic The Craft is being rebooted, so dig out your ouji boards and rosary beads and embrace the nostalgia.
The original 1996 film followed Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell and Rachel True as four of the coolest misfit students at a stuffy Catholic high school. After they begin meddling with the world of witchcraft, things spiral out of control as they concoct spells and curses against people that they really can't stand.
After years of speculation that the teen horror was going to be remade, Blumhouse and Columbia Pictures have officially announced that actress and writer Zoe Lister-Jones is writing and directing a new version of the movie - which is not a sequel - according to Deadline.
Zoe made her debut in 2017 with the indie film Band Aid and wrote Greta Gerwig's rom-com Lola Versus.
Robin - who played Sarah Bailey - recently approved of a reboot and possibly reprising her role if the right director was attached to the project.
"I feel like if it came along and the script was good and I actually thought it was going to be something... I want them to find a great director," she told ComicBook.com. "I think they've gone through a lot of writers. If it was something where I felt like they were going to do it well, and also find a way, because it's been so much time, you can't just do a sequel.
"I think on some level, it totally has to, in order to feel relevant, I think it should be maybe funnier or something."
The movie also featured former heartthrob Skeet Ulrich, and Breckin Meyer, but it's not known as yet if any of the original cast members will be returning.
