Hear the new song from DisenchantedDisney

15 years after the original Enchanted movie came out (way back in 2007, would you believe), the new Disney+ project, Disenchanted, is almost here.

In December 2020, the production house revealed a LOT of upcoming TV and film projects, one of which is Enchanted 2, aka Disenchanted, starring the original cast - Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey.

Here's everything we know about the follow up so far, including release date, cast, plot theories and more. Exciting!

Is there a Disenchanted trailer?

Absolutely, and Disney have also given us a sneak preview at a new song which will feature in the sequel. In a one-minute clip released on 14th November, we see Giselle and stepdaughter Morgan (played by Amy Adams and Gabriella Baldacchino) moving from Manhattan to Monroeville, singing the song 'Even More Enchanted.'

Previously, after what felt like a long wait, Disney finally released the official trailer for Disenchanted - and there's lots to get excited about.

The trailer premiered at the D23 Expo 2022 on 10th September, showing Giselle and Robert moving to a new home, before some other recognisable characters appear: Prince Edward and Nancy, who now live in Andalasia. However, there seems to be trouble on the horizon, as we also see Maya Rudolph’s villain Malvina Monroe appearing on the scene. And it looks like things could get pretty dark as far as Happily Ever Afters go. Have a watch here:

What will happen in Enchanted 2?

In the first Enchanted film, Princess Giselle is banished from her kingdom by her lover's evil stepmother. She is then transported to the real world where she meets lawyer Robert and finds herself falling for him. The end of the first film sees Nancy and Prince Edward return to live in fantasy land, while Giselle stays in the real world, marries Robert and opens a fashion store.

Alongside the September 2022 trailer, Disney also shared some details on what we can expect from the Disenchanted plot. The official synopsis reads, "It has been 15 years since Giselle (Amy Adams) and Robert (Patrick Dempsey) wed, but Giselle has grown disillusioned with life in the city, so they move their growing family to the sleepy suburban community of Monroeville in search of a more fairy tale life."

The synopsis then reveals that Giselle encounters neighbourhood queen bee, Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph), making Giselle feel even more out of place. The princess then turns to Andalasia for help, resulting in Monroeville becoming a real-life fairy tale, with Giselle in a rush to reverse the spell.

So much to take in!

Do we have any Disenchanted teaser pics or info?

Disney previously dropped a first-look film still from Disenchanted, featuring Amy Adams and Maya Rudolph fully in costume. Exciting!

Amy is of course returning to her role as Princess Giselle, with Maya seeming to be firmly in villain mode. Disney shared the pic on Twitter on 17th May, while also confirming the film's Disney+ release date: Thanksgiving 2022, aka Thursday 24th November.

They wrote, "Here’s your FIRST LOOK at Amy Adams and Maya Rudolph in Disney’s #Disenchanted! See the Original movie streaming this Thanksgiving on @DisneyPlus!"

Back in May 2021, Amy Adams and Disenchanted director Adam Shankman shared a photo from set on Twitter with the caption, "Wanted to get a few friends together to tell the story of what 'ever after' looks like…"

And if that wasn't enough, Amy Adams herself previously gave a major update on the project, and it sounds like exactly what we need.

There's going to be "a lot more singing and a lot more dancing, which was humbling," the Sharp Objects star told The Tonight Show. "The last time I really danced as much as I'm required to dance in this, I was in my 20s and now I'm not in my 20s. It feels different in your 40s. In my heart, I look like I'm in my 20s when I'm dancing, and then I would watch playback and be like, 'Whoa, that's not the same.'"

When will Enchanted 2 be released?

Disenchanted was originally tipped for a Thanksgiving release date, aka Thursday 24th November, but has since moved to Friday 18th November.

The streaming service previously revealed that the film would be coming in Autumn 2022, announcing on 12th November 2021, "Magic is in the air #Disenchanted is coming to #DisneyPlus Fall 2022 and you can stream Disney's #Enchanted NOW! #DisneyPlusDay," they announced in a tweet, while cast members Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey also shared a video message with fans.

When was Enchanted 2 announced?

At Disney's Investor Day on Thursday 10 December 2020, Disney announced multiple projects across their platforms including Disney+, Hulu, and FX Networks. The announcement included the confirmation of Enchanted 2.

It wasn't the first time a sequel had been discussed, though. In 2016, director Adam Shankman signed on to direct the movie, later revealing in early 2018 that they had a script ready to go.

In May 2019, Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz (who worked on the music and score for the first movie) added that they were actually still trying to "get the script right" but "that it is definitely being worked on."

Who will star in Enchanted 2?

At Disney's Investor Day, Amy Adams was confirmed to return as Princess Giselle. Then, in January 2021, Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey confirmed he will return as lawyer Robert. Eek!

"I just got this script for the second movie, and then I'm starting to go through and get notes together," he said on Good Morning America [15 January]. The star also revealed there was talk of Disenchanted starting the film this spring, while also praising "amazing" co-star Adams.

Idina Menzel will return as Nancy, while newcomer Gabby Baldacchino will take on the role of Robert's now-teenage daughter Morgan. Also joining the cast is Yvette Nicole Brown, Kolton Stewart, The Office's Oscar Nunez, Glee's Jayma Mays and Saturday Night Live's Maya Rudolph. Incredible.

James Marsden will also return as Prince Edward, after discussing his desire to in 2020. "They've been talking about making that movie for a while but I hope so, I hope we make it," he said at the time (via Digital Spy). "We've been fooled before that it was gonna happen, it didn't happen. We should do it before we get too long in the tooth."

We're ready and waiting.
