Disney+ has released the first teaser trailer for their new Pinocchio live-action movie, offering a first glimpse at the reimagined classic and the remastered version of 'When you Wish Upon a Star'.

The trailer hints at Robert Zemeckis' direction with the beloved story and gives a first look at Elvis star Tom Hanks as the wood-carver, Geppetto. We see Geppetto lovingly create his wooden puppet, Pinocchio, and going to bed to wish upon a star for the son he's always wanted.

As the enchanting Cynthia Nixon as the blue fairy sings the iconic tune, Geppetto's wish begins to come true as puppets come to life.

Pinocchio follows a wooden puppet of the same name that Geppetto made as he was desperate for his own son. Now, Pinocchio played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth journeys to become a real boy with the help of his magical friend.

The trailer also confirmed that the new movie will air on the streaming platform on September 8.

The stellar cast also features Inception's Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Keegan-Michael Key as John and Lorraine Bracco as Sofia the Seagull. Beauty and the Beast actor Luke Evans will also appear in the movie-musical as a new character, the Coachman.

The next feature film will be The Little Mermaid that is due to be released in 2023 – a remake of the 1989 classic will see Halle Bailey star in the role as Princess Ariel.

Pinocchio will be released on September 8 on Disney+.
