Doctor Who star Karen Gillan has revealed that all hope is not lost for a possible return of Amy Pond. But she wouldn't do it alone.

Gillan joined the iconic UK show in 2010 as the companion to Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor during the days of Sherlock's Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss writing for the show.

She left in 2012 but made a return in the 2013 Doctor Who Christmas special, 'The Time of the Doctor', during which Smith also took his final bow as the Eleventh Doctor.

Now, with the show's 60th anniversary approaching, the actress has opened up on whether she would be on board for a return to her TV roots.

During a WIRED Autocomplete Interview, one of the most Googled questions seemed to be 'Will Karen Gillan return to Doctor Who?', which prompted Gillan to offer her own answer.

"Never say never," she responded. "If I was asked, I would be really, really interested and keen."

Her only condition? She'd need her old co-stars by her side.

"It would be really amazing. I would like to do it with Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill, if I was gonna go back."

During a preceding question she also revealed that, despite her burgeoning career, she still "missed" being the show.

"I was 21 years old [when I joined], so a baby," she said. "That was the big break of my career. I went from not working very much as an actor to being in a very beloved show in the UK – and I miss it so much, actually."

Gillan is currently starring in Judd Apatow's Netflix COVID-19 parody, The Bubble, and will also be seen in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder and Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
