This article contains spoilers for The Flight Attendant season 1.

The Flight Attendant will officially be returning for season two, with Kaley Cuoco back as the intuitive yet boozy and utterly loveable flight attendant Cassie Bowden, who got caught up in a murky world of assassins and espionage after a drunken night out with a passenger named Alex Sokolov in Bangkok.

The dark comedy thriller sees Cassie's life spiral completely out of control when she wakes up next to Sokolov's dead body, and only has a hazy outline of what happened the night before. As she attempts to piece together their evening in order to exonerate herself and root out the real killer, she uncovers his family's criminal dealings while being stalked by the FBI -and a mystery woman named Miranda (Michelle Gomez).

Meanwhile, Cassie's friends and colleagues are concerned about the amount that she drinks - she's often reprimanded for knocking back vodka miniatures during flights and hoarding bottles in her handbag. We later discover that she is using alcohol to repress a childhood trauma that begins to haunt her, along with an apparition (or 10) of Sokolov....

For fans who have already devoured the eight-part series, here's what we know about season two so far...

The Flight Attendant - when will season two launch?

HBO confirmed season two last December, shortly after the series began airing in the US.

"To say that I am elated would be an understatement!" Kaley Cuoco said in a statement. "The positive response to our show has surpassed all of our expectations and I’m so proud of the entire team behind its success."

The new series is expected to be released in the US in spring next year. UK fans may be in for a slightly longer wait - the drama premiered in America towards the end of November, but didn't land in the UK on Sky One until March 19th this year. Therefore, we may not see the show return until Autumn 2022.

We're missing Kaley Cuoco and her endearing/slightly irritating ringtone (Two Hearts by Stacey Q FYI) already...

What will happen in The Flight Attendant season two?

In the show's finale, we saw that Cassie was being hunted down by Buckley, who she had begun dating after hitting it off on a night out (and there we were thinking he was 'The One!'). He went under the alias of Felix - and also happened to be responsible for the assassination of Alex Sokolov.

That chapter appears to be resolved, so the new series could involve a new murder investigation that Cassie is somehow assigned to.

We also saw discovered that Cassie's colleague Shane (Griffin Matthews) was actually an undercover CIA agent, who tells Cassie that his agency will be in touch as they want to recruit her for a human asset programme. The new series could see Cassie take on this role - perhaps while still serving as a flight attendant to keep her cover.

Cuoco recently revealed that she has plans for season two, telling Entertainment Weekly: "We have always had a vision for a season two. We have had a very clear path for what a season two would look like, we know exactly what it'll look like, and we hope we’ll get the opportunity to do that."

Showrunner Steve Yockey said that series two will feature "another adventure with Cassie Bowden, flight attendant."

Viewers also saw Cassie giving up alcohol - which she has been abusing to blot of her traumatic childhood - so the new series will see her attempting to love a sober life.

Yockey added that Cassie's "mind palace" - where we see her character's inner monologue and the inner workings of her mind as she gets introspective - will be back, but seemingly without Alex Sokolov, as that investigation was wrapped up in the finale.

Cassie's colleague Megan (Rosie Perez) found herself in it deep when she began sharing classified information - belonging to her husband's company - to the North Korean government. Cuoco told TV Line that Megan will be involved in a "really big storyline" in the new series. Viewers last saw her at a train station, preparing to go on the run, and emotionally bidding farewell to her family.

The Flight Attendant cast - who will be back?

Kaley Cuoco will be back to lead the thriller as Cassie Bowden, and we're hoping Rosie Perez is back as Megan - although we may see Megan in a separate storyline now that she is on the run from the authorities and the North Korean government.

Cassie's best friend, lawyer Annie (Zosia Mamet) and her boyfriend Max (Deniz Akdeniz) - who yes, survived that hit and run - are likely to return too. As is Cassie's supportive older brother Davey (TR Knight), and undercover CIA agent/flight attendant Shane (Griffin Matthews).

We really hope that Miranda - played by brilliant Scottish actress Michelle Gomez (The Green Wing, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) - will be back too, as we saw her forge a connection with Cassie, and in the finale, she slyly placed Alex's novel into Cassie's jacket pocket when she wasn't looking, with a message that told her she should have it, and added: "See you soon." (Alex's copy of Crime and Punishment contained his money encryption key which lead to the £200 million that he took from his family and hid in an offshore account).

FBI agents Kim (Merle Dandridge) and Nolan Gerard Funk (Van White) were like chalk and cheese which made for an entertaining dynamic, so we hope these two will be reprising their roles for series 2.

Buckley (Colin Woodell) - who assassinated Alex Sokolov - could also be back as we saw that he survived being shot by both Cassie and Shane in the finale - creepily waving at Cassie as he was lead away in ambulance. Perhaps he's still has unfinished business...

The Flight Attendant is available to watch on Sky One and stream on NOW TV.
