Girls Aloud to reunite for fundraising gala in honour of Sarah Harding

Girls Aloud will reunite for a charity gala in honour of their late bandmate Sarah Harding on Saturday.

Cheryl, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle have been working on The Primrose Ball since Sarah passed away aged 39 in September 2021 following a battle with breast cancer.

In an interview with The Sun, Kimberley explained that the band will not perform at the gala because it "wouldn't feel right" without Sarah.

"We've always said that we wouldn't perform together at the gala without Sarah. It just wouldn't feel right, it's too sad. We've got other people to perform our songs for us," she said.

Kimberley shared that Olly Alexander from Years & Years will be performing their debut single Sound of the Underground while Chrissy Hynde will sing her song I'll Stand By You, which Girls Aloud famously covered. Sarah's St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold co-star Ricky Wilson will perform the Kaiser Chiefs' smash hit I Predict A Riot.

One of Sarah's dying wishes was for her bandmates to organise a charity event to raise money for breast cancer research.

"It feels good to be doing something that she wanted and something positive," Kimberley added. "That's what's important. What I've found hard is people moving on with their lives and Sarah not being here.

"That's hard because, for her friends and family, we are always thinking about her. Nothing can bring her back but, with the gala and the walk, she is involved in our daily lives and that feels special."

Kimberley was unable to participate in the charity walk with Cheryl, Nicola and Nadine back in June.

The Primrose Ball, which also features an auction, will be hosted by Fearne Cotton at The Londoner Hotel. It will raise money for the Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal.
