Happy Valley season 3 casts Doctor Who's Amit Shah and The Bay's Mark Stanley
Production on the third and final season of BBC's Happy Valley has begun in West Yorkshire, and has welcomed a number of new cast members.
The series follows Sergeant Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire), who, after her teenage daughter's suicide, heads-up a team of strong-willed police officers in West Yorkshire to solve cases.
Lancashire will return as Sergeant Cawood, with James Norton reprising his role as Tommy Lee Royce and Siobhan Finneran also back as Catherine's sister Clare Cartwright.
The BBC confirmed Amit Shah (Doctor Who), Mark Stanley (The Bay) and Mollie Winnard (Four Lives) will also be joining the show's line up, and will play key roles in the final season.
Among the returning cast will be Con O'Neill starring as Clare's recovering alcoholic boyfriend Neil Ackroyd, George Costigan as Nevison Gallagher, and Irish actress Charlie Murphy as his daughter and Catherine's colleague Ann.
Also returning are Derek Riddell as Richard Cawood, Karl Davies as Daniel Cawood, Susan Lynch as Alison Garrs, Rick Warden as Mike Taylor, Vincent Franklin as Andy Shepherd and Rhys Connah as Ryan Cawood.
When season 3 was announced in October last year, writer and actor Wainright said: "I'm delighted to find myself back in the world of Catherine Cawood and her family and colleagues for the final instalment of the Happy Valley trilogy.
"It's been wonderful to see the lasting impact this series has had on audiences all over the world.
"I'm thrilled that Sarah, James and Siobhan [Finneran] are back on board for what I hope will be the best season yet, and thrilled once again to be working with the wonderful team at Lookout Point, the BBC and our new colleagues at AMC."
Happy Valley season 3 will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer with dates to be confirmed. The first two series of Happy Valley are available to watch in full on BBC iPlayer now.
