It's been a long old winter. Dark, cold, fairly wet, and with none of the usual joys that help us through - like the ability to socialise with family and friends. But there is now very much some light at the end of the tunnel, and it's coming in the form of a mini-heatwave, apparently.

Just before lockdown restrictions ease on 12 April, allowing groups of six or two households to meet outdoors, weather forecasters predict parts of England will reach temperatures of 20°C. I don't know about you, but having practically lived in my hat and gloves for my daily state-mandated walks over the past few months, sunshine and... dare I say it... warmth feel almost unfathomable.

With the Easter Bank Holiday just around the corner - kicking off on Friday next week (2 April) - the country will hopefully be basking in sunshine."Temperatures should start to pick up… the general trend is largely fine weather into the Bank Holiday weekend," Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill told the Evening Standard.

Monday is expected to signal the first spell of warm weather, with temperatures reaching 17°C in the Capital, and experts predict the warm and largely dry weather will continue into April. Average temperatures for the spring month tend to come in at around 13°C, but weather forecasters expect that will generally be exceeded throughout the month.

First, though, we have to contend with a bit of up-and-down weather. Wet and windy weather is expected on Sunday, before the sun pokes its head through through on Monday. And it couldn't come soon enough.

Picnic blankets, assemble: I am ready for you.
