Fast X is currently filming, after a brief period where the film didn't have a director, which means we've got our first photos of Jason Momoa on set.

The Aquaman star has joined the long-running action franchise for the latest installment, playing the newest villain.

The filming photos, taken in Rome, see Momoa riding a motorbike while wearing shades and a shiny silver jacket. He's also got a smartphone attached to the front of his vehicle which, combined with the outfit, could suggest he's portraying some sort of celebrity in the film.

He's not the only from the world of comic book movies joining the Fast & Furious franchise, as Captain Marvel's Brie Larson and The Suicide Squad's Daniela Melchior have also been cast in currently unknown roles. Larson in particular has stated that she really wants to be in these films.

As mentioned above, the film underwent a change in director after veteran franchise director Justin Lin stepped away after beginning production. A week later, The Incredible Hulk and the Clash of the Titans remake director Louis Leterrier stepped in to take over.

In a statement announcing his departure, Lin said: "With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of Fast X, while remaining with the project as a producer.

"Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best damn car chases. On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history.

"I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the Fast family."
