Hocus Pocus 2's official release date has been confirmed.

The sequel will fly onto Disney+ on Friday, September 30. The news was revealed at a House of Mouse presentation this week (via Entertainment Weekly), which treated attendees to a first proper glimpse of the Sanderson sisters' resurrection.

29 years on from their original night of terror across Salem, it showed two young girls summoning the three witches by lighting the Black Flame Candle – made from the fat of a hanged man, no less.

Bette Midler's Winifred squealed: "Lock up your children! Yes, Salem, we're back!" before they banged out a rendition of Elton John tune 'The Bitch Is Back'.

Tony Hale's town mayor Jefry Traske, Doug Jones' zombified Billy Butcherson and Sam Richardson's new character also made fleeting appearances.

Hocus Pocus 2 director Anne Fletcher (27 Dresses and The Proposal) previously shared in a statement: "I am beyond thrilled to be involved in the sequel to a film that is as beloved as Hocus Pocus.

"Fans around the world have embraced these characters and have made this film a Halloween tradition whose popularity continues to grow, and how lucky am I to be back at Disney with these three extraordinarily talented ladies in the iconic roles they created, as well as our fabulous new additions to the cast?

"Now more than ever, people need to laugh. We should be laughing every day, and there is so much fun to be had with these three unbelievable women playing delicious characters from such a beloved film."

2022 really is the year of nostalgia for Disney+ subscribers, with Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi due to stream later this month, bringing back Ewan McGregor as the titular Jedi for the first time in 17 years.

Hocus Pocus 2 comes to Disney+ on September 30.
