“Reporting live…from Buckingham Palace” isn’t something you hear every day. But that’s exactly where Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield were today for the filming of Tuesday's This Morning episode.

The presenting power pair were invited to broadcast from Buckingham Palace on Tuesday for a segment of their This Morning show to look at some of the palace's historic artefacts in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee later this year.

The king and queen of daytime television dressed for the occasion, with Philip Schofield wearing a smart navy suit and tie, and Holly Willoughby in a fitting brocade silk gold dress.

Willoughby, 41, looked every inch the glamorous guest in the puff-sleeved dress, which featured bows at the sleeves and a staggered skirt.

The midi dress is one of Willoughby’s number one go-to silhouettes, with a cinched-in waist and a high neck, a flattering and modest look for her appearance at the royal palace.

The TV presenter flew the flag for sustainable style at the momentous occasion, renting her The Vampire's Wife dress from fashion rental site Hurr Collective for the "special moment".

"Well that was just one of those special moments on @thismorning…," Willoughby wrote on Instagram after the episode had aired, "such a privilege to take our show to Buckingham Palace today to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee… [sic]"

"Thank you @theroyalfamily for having us…" she added.

The mother-of-three wore her signature blonde hair in a side parting with soft waves and kept her make-up simple, yet glowing for the momentous TV occasion.

The new filming location for Tuesday's episode was revealed during Monday morning's show.

As Monday’s episode of the ITV show began, Gyles Brandreth, English broadcaster, writer and former politician, entered the studio accompanied by two 'royal guards' who were playing trumpets, before reading aloud a letter.

“Dear Mr Schofield and Ms Willoughby, you have been given a royal appointment for tomorrow as we will be broadcasting live from Buckingham Palace to mark Her Majesty's platinum Jubilee.

“You will be taking a look back at the Queen's magnificent 70 years of Sovereign with a host of special guests,” he continued.

“We look forward to welcoming you live from 10 o'clock tomorrow morning as the celebrations begin at Buckingham Palace.”

Squealing with delight, mother-of-three Willoughby said: “That is so exciting! that's gonna make me cry!”
