Jada was diagnosed with alopecia in 2018 and her post comes after her hair loss was made the butt of a joke at this year's Oscars by comedian Chris Rock.

The joke caused Jada's husband Will Smith to march on stage and slap Chris in a now infamous moment that will go down in Oscars history.

Following the shocking incident, Will has been banned from any Academy events for the next decade. The Academy also released a statement apologising for how the situation was handled, writing: "We want to express our deep gratitude to Mr. Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances. We also want to thank our hosts, nominees, presenters and winners for their poise and grace during our telecast."

In July, Will finally broke his social media silence and addressed the controversy surrounding his treatment of Chris. The video began with words that read: "It's been a minute. Over the last few months, I've been doing a lot of thinking and personal work. You asked a lot of fair questions that I wanted to take some time to answer."

Will then appeared on screen and gave a lengthy speech in which he apologized to Chris and revealed that he has reached out to the comedian.

He said in part: "I will say to you Chris. I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable and I'm here whenever you're ready to talk. I want to apologize to Chris' mother. I didn't realize, I wasn't thinking how many people got hurt in that moment."

He added: "I've spent the last three months replaying and understanding the nuances and complexities of what happened in that moment. I'm not going to try to unpack that right now. I can say to all of you that there is no part of me that thinks that's the right way to behave."
