Jason Momoa Unveils Giant Head Tattoo After Shaving Off His Hair

Aquaman star Jason Momoa has unveiled his new giant head tattoo after previously shaving off the sides of his hair.

Taking to his Instagram account on Sept. 14, the actor shared a video telling his followers that he was "on the roam" to New Zealand on a Hawaiian Airlines flight.

Before boarding the plane, he said that he had "something special" to show his fans and removed his bowler hat, revealing his freshly shaved head which now features a giant tribal tattoo that goes down to his neck.

He captioned the post: "Here we go @hawaiianairlines is back we're going to New Zealand HAWAII TO AOTEROA Mahalo to my OHANA for being there for me yesterday @suluape_keone it was a true honor 20 years in the making.

"'So stoked @mananalu.water is on the flight mahalo again @hawaiianairlines help stop single use plastic. Always on the roam @soill Aloha j."

Momoa's representatives told JustJared that he got the new ink in honour of his Hawaiian heritage, saying: "He got his head and neck tattooed. It's a huge piece, it's related to his Hawaiian roots and culture."

At the end of the video, Momoa also announces that his upcoming Apple TV+ series Chief of War is on its way.

The show, which focuses on the unification and colonisation of Hawai'i from the perspective of the indigenous people, will see the actor make his debut as a TV writer. He will also star in it and executive produce.

The Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence will also serve as an executive producer, as well as Momoa's co-writer Thomas Pa'a Sibbett, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg and Doug Jung.
