Jennifer Lawrence typically avoids sharing details about her private life, but in a recent interview with American Vogue, the first-time mum revealed the name and sex of her newborn baby.

The 32-year-old Hunger Games alumni told the publication her and Cooke Maroney's baby is a boy named Cy 'after the postwar American painter Cy Twombly, one of Maroney’s favourite artists', the outlet explained.

She also admitted to finding it 'so scary to talk about motherhood'.

Lawrence elaborated: 'Only because it’s so different for everybody. If I say, It was amazing from the start, some people will think, "It wasn’t amazing for me at first, and feel bad." Fortunately I have so many girlfriends who were honest. Who were like, "It’s scary. You might not connect right away. You might not fall in love right away." So I felt so prepared to be forgiving. I remember walking with one of my best friends at, like, nine months, and being like, "Everyone keeps saying that I will love my baby more than my cat. But that’s not true. Maybe I’ll love him as much as my cat?"'

She continued: 'The morning after I gave birth, I felt like my whole life had started over.

'Like, "Now is day one of my life." I just stared. I was just so in love. I also fell in love with all babies everywhere. Newborns are just so amazing. They’re these pink, swollen, fragile little survivors. Now I love all babies. Now I hear a baby crying in a restaurant and I’m like, Awwww, preciousssss.

Lawrence added: 'So many of my films in the past have been about my mother, my childhood.

'I wonder what will happen now that I’ll be witnessing somebody else’s childhood. And I wonder what he’s going to be talking about with his therapist. "She wouldn’t put me down. She kisses me on the mouth. She asked me not to go to college."'

As for how motherhood has changed her, she said: 'My heart has stretched to a capacity that I didn’t know about.

'I include my husband in that. And then they’re both just, like, out there—walking around, crossing streets. He’s gonna drive one day. He’s gonna be a stupid teenager and be behind the wheel of a car. And I’m just gonna be like, Good night! You know? Like, who sleeps?'

She later gushed: 'I mean the euphoria of Cy is just—Jesus, it’s impossible.

'I always tell him, I love you so much it’s impossible.'

Jennifer Lawrence has given birth to her first child with husband Cooke Maroney, we've been informed.

The 31-year-old Mother! actor reportedly welcomed her and the art gallery director's baby in Los Angeles County, but the official birthdate and sex of their child is yet to be confirmed.

Lawrence was first rumoured to be pregnant last September when she was photographed in New York City with what appeared to be a baby bump.

A representative for the Oscar-winning star later confirmed the suspected news to be true.

Lawrence later opened up about personal pregnancy boundaries, speaking to Vanity Fair.

She discussed the pressure she experienced, when it comes to divulging information about her future child, expressing her anxiety around what to keep private and what to open up about: 'If I was at a dinner party, and somebody was like, "Oh, my God, you’re expecting a baby," I wouldn’t be like, ‘God, I can’t talk about that. Get away from me, you psycho!' she told the publication.

However, 'Every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can. I don’t want anyone to feel welcome into their existence. And I feel like that just starts with not including them in this part of my work.'

Last September, a source spoke to People about Lawrence's approach towards parenthood and her life with Maroney, who she married in a lavish Rhode Island ceremony in October 2019.

The source said: 'Jen wanted a family for a long time and found an ideal mate whom she loves, respects and enjoys being around.

'She loves married life, and they have a solid foundation for a baby. She is very happy and looking forward to being a mom.'

Addressing how Lawrence is likely to approach balancing motherhood with work, the insider added: 'She loves her work and that will continue.

'Like other actors, she will balance her career and her life as a wife and mom. She will do it well. Jen is grounded and ready to be a parent because she loves family life.

'She knows a fulfilled mom is better than one who gives up what she loves then regrets it," the source says. "I doubt that would ever happen with her.'

Further to her own choice to have a child, Lawrence has also actively championed the need for other women to be able to make decisions about their bodies, advocating for planned parenthood in October 2021 by joining a rally for abortion justice - while already pregnant - alongside Amy Schumer.
