The 'Joker' Soundtrack Is Perfect. So Why Not Watch It With A Live Orchestra?
Joker is set to return to UK screens later this year – but it comes with an exciting twist as the screenings will be accompanied by an orchestra.
The blockbuster DC movie will tour the UK and Ireland from April, with composer Hildur Guðnadóttir's score played live for attendees.
Joker – Live in Concert will hit London, as well as 14 other cities including Birmingham, York, Dublin, Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Pre-sale tickets are on sale from 5 February and general sale on 7 February. You can get them from Ticketmaster or Eventim.
"I'm thrilled to get to see and hear Joker in the cinema with a live orchestra," Guðnadóttir said. "When we recorded the music, the orchestra brought such depth and detailed attention to the performances that we were all literally holding our breaths during most of the recording sessions. It was a beautiful trip. I'm so happy to get to go there again and for an audience to experience that too."
Director Todd Phillips added: "I speak for the entire Joker team when I say how thrilled we are to be working with SENBLA and Ollie Rosenblatt on Joker – Live in Concert. I think it's a wonderful way for audiences to experience Hildur Guðnadóttir's haunting and immersive score while bearing witness to Joaquin Phoenix's descent into madness as Arthur."
Phoenix walked away with the Bafta for Leading Actor over the weekend for his performance, and was praised for a speech in which he called out the lack of diversity in this year's nominees.
