Josie Lawrence: 'There's so much young talent in Oklahoma! cast, we might not be able to keep them'

Josie Lawrence says there is “so much young talent” in the cast of Oklahoma! it will be a challenge to keep them together long enough to get to the West End.

The actress, who has starred with the Royal Shakespeare Company and was one of the leading members of improv show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, plays Aunt Eller in the new production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic. She said the show was “just a joyous piece”.

She said: “I think it would fit in the West End very well but we’re not thinking about that at the moment, we’re hoping people come and see it in Chichester.

“To tell you the truth there is so much young talent in this company it is whether we will be able to keep them.

“I think some of them will become huge stars… and if it did go somewhere I would definitely go with it, but I don’t think any of us are thinking about it at the moment.”

Lawrence said her role in the show was “one of the best jobs I’ve ever had”.
