Kian Egan's wife Jodi Albert shares miscarriage: 'We had got excited for the future'

Westlife singer Kian Egan's wife Jodi Albert has revealed the pair experienced a miscarriage at nine weeks pregnant in a heartbreaking post.

The Hollyoaks star, 38, who shares Koa, 10, Zekey, six, and Cobi, four, with Egan addressed fan speculation she was pregnant to reveal the sad the loss of what they dreamt would be a 'new beautiful little blessing' to the family.

Sharing a throwback holiday snap of the couple to Instagram, her caption reads, "I posted a similar pic to this on Valentine's Day.. one person commented and said she looks pregnant..

"On any other occasion I might have been offended but on this occasion I thought.. ooh she guessed it right, I am and I cannot wait to get to 12 weeks to share our happy news!!!"

However, she adds, "But sadly we lost our little one at 9 weeks pregnant.. this is my second miscarriage although 3 1/2 years apart...

"This one his differently because we allowed ourselves to get excited and dream about what the future would look like with a new beautiful little blessing to add to your family."

Albert shares she found it hard to announce the news publicly, but now has to help others going through miscarriage know they're not alone.

"I have written out this post and deleted it so many times as my biggest fear has been having to tell people but I know that by talking or posting about it, it can be so helpful for anyone going through this painful loss" she says, "...to know that you're not alone and although that little baby was never born it still has a huge place in your heart."

She adds, "The silence after the D&C procedure is deafening because you are left with so many thoughts and questions that can sometimes never be answered."

After a miscarriage, if there's no tissue left in your womb, treatment isn't required. But if there is, dependant on what is right for you, you might either wait for the tissue to pass out of your womb naturally, take medicine that causes it to pass, or have the tissue surgically removed.

"I have found comfort in reading and listening to women who have been through the same thing and I suppose this is why I’m pushing through my fear and speaking out," says Albert.

"I think it’s part of a positive healing process or maybe it’s just for me to remember that it was real and that little baby did exist and was loved so much."

She also credits Egan, who she has been married to since 2009, in a moving message. "To my husband who has just been my rock .. you are the most amazing man.. I love you and our boys so much and am so grateful for what I already have."

Many fans showed their support, commenting they are "so sorry to hear this" and that the pair should be "so proud you've spoken out", prompting many others to share their own personal miscarriage stories in the comments.

Egan also paid a tribute to his wife by sharing the same picture. His caption reads, "I don’t really have any words to describe this woman. All I know is I love her with all my heart. She is the strongest person I know. We have been through some heart break recently. A heart break that will never go away. Love you my soul mate."

Albert later thanked everyone for the support on her Instagram stories, expressing how "overwhelmed by the support and love" she is and that, for those who have gone through something similar, "my heart goes out to each and everyone of you".

"Thank you for helping me heal too," she adds.
