Killing Eve's Sandra Oh lands next lead movie role in Can I Get a Witness

Sandra Oh has landed her next lead movie role as part of a new sci-fi thriller.

The Killing Eve and Grey's Anatomy star will appear in Can I Get a Witness, which is set in the near-future where "death is everyone's job" in order to save the planet.

In this reality, 50-year-olds make the sacrifice, while teenage artists are tasked with documenting it, according to Deadline.

The project will see Oh teaming up once again with director Ann Marie Fleming, whom she worked with on Window Horses.

The actress of course broke out as Dr Christina Yang in Grey's Anatomy, and has since gone on to star in Killing Eve and The Chair, among many other projects.

Earlier this year, Oh opened up about her decision to depart from the medical drama back in 2014.

"It must have been at the end of maybe season 8 or 9... I just remember having this walk and Shonda [Rhimes, creator of Grey's Anatomy], we were just walking and she was like, 'What do you want to do?'," she revealed on Deadline video series The Actor's Side.

"I think we must have just fallen into a time of when you have to renegotiate, so what's the timing of what you want to renegotiate?

"And I've always been very respectful and very grateful for my relationship with Shonda, because we were able to have this kind of conversation. And she was open to say, 'What would you like to do?', so to be included in that way, I'm always grateful for."

She further reflected: "It's like, in the olden days, I'd say you wouldn't want to be stuck on a TV show for a long time. It's like, 'Oh, it's not challenging', or whatever it is.

"I felt I did absolutely all I could creatively in creating this character, and in the way that I think it was an amazing opportunity as an actor and a challenge as an artist. Because how do you stay in the game still creating when there are similar situations that repeat over and over again?"
