When it comes to Christmas movies, nobody does it better (read: in a more interesting way) than Netflix. The streaming service has carved somewhat of a niche for itself in creating wonderfully bizarre festive flicks including A Christmas Prince (parts one and two), The Holiday Calendar and The Princess Switch.

For the holiday season this year, Netflix has announced a slate of new movies for us to enjoy, from the third part of the Christmas Prince trilogy (featuring a royal baby) to Holiday in the Wild.

As we wait for Christmas to come around so we can get comfy and watch Netflix's new films, here's what you need to know about one of them - The Knight Before Christmas.

The Knight Before Christmas: What's it about?

As movie teasers go, this one is intriguing.

"Vanessa Hudgens and Josh Whitehouse star in the perfectly-titled holiday rom-com, The Knight Before Christmas. She plays a kind science teacher who has been disillusioned by love and he's the cursed medieval knight she must help return to his time."

A trailer for Netflix's many festive films shows a sneak peek at The Knight Before Christmas. In the clip, Josh Whitehouse's character can be seen introducing himself to Vanessa Hudgens' in a shopping mall, revealing he's a Knight from Norwich. Excellent.

That really is all we have to go off right now, but we are eagerly anticipating more plot news.

The Knight Before Christmas: Who's in it?

Playing the leads in this must-watch are High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens, who starred in Netflix's The Princess Switch last year, and Poldark actor Josh Whitehouse.

Josh played Demelza's love interest Hugh Armitage in the BBC drama from 2017 - 2018. Let's hope he's a bit luckier in The Knight Before Christmas...
