Riverdale star Lili Reinhart has defended her criticism of Kim Kardashian, who recently spoke out about losing 16lbs in three weeks to fit into one of Marilyn Monroe's iconic dresses for the 2022 Met Gala.

ICYMI, earlier this week Kim told Vogue she wore "a sauna suit twice a day, ran on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just ate the cleanest veggies and protein" in order to lose weight rapidly ahead of the event, given that the dress she planned on wearing could not be altered due to its historical importance.

Kim's weight loss comments divided fans, with many people calling out how triggering this could be for those with or vulnerable to disordered eating. And one such person who criticised The Kardashians star was Lili, who took to social media to call out celebrities who "starved" for fashion.

"To walk on a red carpet and do an interview where you say how starving you are... because you haven't eaten carbs in the last month... all to fit in a f*cking dress? So wrong. So f*cked on 100s of levels," the Riverdale actor wrote on her Instagram Story. "To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting."

Now, just days on, the 25-year-old has taken to social media once more to stand by her comments. "I do not say the things that I say because I want to be relevant or get attention," she told her followers on Twitter. "I speak up because I don’t see enough people with large platforms calling out toxic behavior in our industry. Some people will never understand where I’m coming from and that’s okay."

In response, fans praised the actor for being so honest. "I agree with you", said one follower. "I think it is necessary for these people to be aware that they are seeing and being heard by millions of people who adore them and who give importance to their words and that these words can change our lives."
