Lindsay Lohan Mocks Her Chequered Past In Hilarious Super Bowl Advert
Lindsay Lohan has returned to the headlines in recent weeks as a result of her engagement to financier Bader Shammas and appearance in an untitled Christmas rom-com, and appears to be healthy and happy.
But, despite her current lifestyle, the Mean Girls star has faced numerous upheavals over the years, involving alcohol and drug addiction, which she's opened up about on numerous times over the years, agreeing with Oprah Winfrey that she was 'addicted to chaos’ in a post-rehab interview in 2013.
Now, the 35-year-old actor is poking fun at her previous battles and reputation in the press after starring in a Super Bowl advert (watch it above) which mocks her chequered past.
The 30-second video for Planet Fitness begins with a voiceover of people who can be heard saying: 'What's gotten into Lindsay?'
'She's never been sharp,' says another voiceover.
Lohan is then seen beating former professional basketball player Dennis Rodman at a game of Jeopardy! and later getting a good night's sleep, much to the disappointment of paparazzi.
In an interview with Paper in 2018 Lohan said that the paparazzi gave her 'a certain kind of anxiety'. In her new video, she says the paparazzi are seemingly anything but 'thrilled' that the actor is in a good place in her life and out of the public eye. They are hilariously shown crying, with one saying: 'I miss Lindsay.'
Another shot shows Lohan in a scene with actor Danny Trejo, at which point we learn that 'she's even more productive, trading DUIs for DIYs'. Soon after, the camera zooms in to show Trejo sporting an embellished, glamorous replica of a traditional police-monitoring tagging device.
The scene concludes with Lohan saying 'the verdict is...' before Trejo replies, 'gorgeous'.
The voiceover, who later appears on screen, adds: 'Maybe it's not what's gotten into Lindsay, it's what Lindsay has gotten into.' A glowing Lohan is then shown walking out of the door with a wide grin.
During her twenties Lohan spent a total of 250 days at five rehab facilities to be treated for her struggles with drugs and alcohol, faced 20 court appearances and even had a brief stint in jail for two weeks, after initially being sentenced for six months, in addition to 67 days of community service, per CNN.
The Freaky Friday star later received positive probation reports and touching words from Judge Sautner, who was dealing with the actor's court proceedings at the time, the same news outlet reported.
Sautner said: 'I know it's hard when people are following you all over the place, but that's the life you chose.' She also advised the actor to 'live your life in a more mature way, stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work;.
When announcing her engagement to Shammas in November 2021, Lohan wrote on Instagram: 'My love. My life. My family. My future.'
