We all know the famous world is a small one, and (we imagine) that can sometimes lead to some pretty awkward interactions between celebs going after the same jobs.

The latest celeb crossover comes in the form of Lizzo and Melissa McCarthy, who both auditioned for the role of Ursula in Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid reboot - with Melissa eventually beating Lizzo to the role. Only slightly awkward then.

Now, Lizzo has shared details on what actually happened when the pair met in real life following the casting news, and the duo had the best reactions to each other.

Speaking about losing out on the role in a new interview with Variety, Lizzo explained, "Everyone knows I auditioned for Ursula in The Little Mermaid, and I didn’t get it. But you know, I’m fine as hell. That has nothing to do with Ursula, but I was down to make Ursula a THOT, shaking a**."

The singer went on to explain what happened when she met Melissa McCarthy IRL, following news that McCarthy would actually be playing Ursula - with the pair crossing paths at Adele’s 'One Night Only' CBS concert special in Los Angeles.

"She [McCarthy] was like, 'Hi, I’m Melissa,' and I was like, 'Hi, I’m Melissa [Lizzo's birth name]. And I also auditioned for Ursula,'" the singer revealed. Makes sense to get the elephant in the room out of the way first, right?

Lizzo went on to share McCarthy's reaction, saying, "And she was like, 'Well, why the hell did I get the part?,’ which is a classic Melissa McCarthy thing to say. And then I was like, 'Girl, because my audition was terrible.' And I say that as Tyler Perry walks by. And I was like — ruined my chances there."

The singer then went on to clarify that, "My audition wasn’t terrible," adding, "Sometimes I like to make jokes. My audition was good. You can ask Disney. I don’t want to talk too much about it. The singing was great. I’ll just say that."

We previously saw Lizzo shooting her shot at an Ursula role via a Twitter video back in 2018, and it's amazing.

We're glad there aren't any hard feelings between these two.
