Lorraine Kelly urges Carol Vorderman to be the new host of 'Countdown'

Lorraine Kelly has urged Carol Vorderman to return to Countdown to replace Anne Robinson as host of the long-running game show. Appearing on Kelly's ITV show alongside Gyles Brandreth to promote their appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox, Vorderman was pushed by Kelly to return to their Channel 4 series.

LORRAINE KELLY: There's a vacancy in "Countdown." You could come back as the host. I think it would be a great thing to do, don't you?

CAROL VORDERMAN: Well, I loved my time with Richard, particularly.

LORRAINE KELLY: [INAUDIBLE]

CAROL VORDERMAN: I mean, we laughed. You know, we laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed. And everyone who watched, we never ever said the word viewer. They were Countdowners. And it was a family. And it's very special time and a long time. So I call that old "Countdown," previous "Countdown."

GYLES BRANDRETH: Also, I think Carol's somebody who likes to do new things. I like to do new things.

LORRAINE KELLY: You're both fairly-- you're both similar in that. You like new challenges because you--

CAROL VORDERMAN: I love a new challenge!

LORRAINE KELLY: Yeah! You really-- and I think as you get older, you're more likely to go, yeah, why not?

GYLES BRANDRETH: Yeah.

LORRAINE KELLY: Why not?

CAROL VORDERMAN: Don't you just? You get to an age now. And you say, oh, yeah, I don't know. Not interested in that.

LORRAINE KELLY: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
