Scrolling through TikTok and bookmarking YouTube tutorials are fast and popular ways to refresh your makeup application knowledge—or try your hand at a few trending beauty looks—but they aren't quite the same as learning directly from the top pros.
Now, industry veteran and beloved celebrity makeup artist Sir John is making it even easier to upgrade your at-home technique. The artist has partnered with Sessions by MasterClass to condense his beauty knowledge of more than 20 years into a step-by-step, 30-day explainer centering on three of his signature makeup styles: his No-Makeup, Everyday, and Icon looks.
Sir John is perhaps best known for working with Beyoncé, as well as Serena Williams and supermodels Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls. He also serves as the U.S. creative director for L'Oréal Paris and is the newly appointed chief creative officer of CTZN Cosmetics.
His seven-part class is ideal for beauty enthusiasts of all skill levels and aims to help viewers seamlessly customize their approach to makeup. In addition to a breakdown of timeless makeup looks to wear again and again, MasterClass subscribers will also get a sneak peek at the artist's go-to products for client skin prep, along with the staples he always keeps in his makeup kit (and suggests that you do too).
"My philosophy is not about how the makeup looks on you, but instead it's about how the makeup makes you feel," Sir John says in a press statement about the partnership. "I'm going to teach members the importance of viewing beauty from the inside out, and how the makeup techniques I use can help them understand and appreciate their own specific beauty.
