The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have responded to reports they will be involved in a fly-on-the-wall documentary series for Netflix.

A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry told The Independent: “The Duke and Duchess are not taking part in any reality shows.”

Reports suggested that the programme would be a reality series that followed their work for three months.

The Sun said on 28 September "it will be tasteful. They want to give people a glimpse into their lives" and Meghan wants viewers to see "the real her".

But now the royal couple have said this is not the case.

They do have some programmes in the making with Netflix, including a nature docu-series and an animated series that celebrates inspiring women.

This partnership will involve the couple producing scripted series, docu-series, documentaries, features and children’s programming.

The Independent understands the focus of this work will be highlighting a wide range of issues that resonate with them, and the work of their new non-profit Archewell.

“Enabling a more compassionate and equitable world isn’t just something they do through their non-profit, it’s a belief they hold and model themselves which will carry through in this venture,” said a source.

On 2 September, the couple issued a statement confirming the deal with Netflix and explaining they wanted to create “content that informs but also gives hope”.

"As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens.

"We are pleased to work with Ted and the team at Netflix whose unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action.”

Meghan, who previously worked on TV drama Suits, has not indicated a desire to return to acting after stepping down as a senior member of the royal family.
