During President Obama's eight years in the White House, rarely did a week go by without his wife, Michelle Obama's, wardrobe choices going undiscussed among the international media and Obama fans.

Elevating the profiles of young, up-and-coming designers, the former First Lady championed diversity and creativity, wearing the the likes of Maria Pinto, Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Tanya Taylor, Tracey Reese and Christian Siriano, and caused several iconic outfits to sell out online in minutes.

However, while attending Apple's developer conference in San Jose, California on Tuesday, the former First Lady finally opened up about how 'unfair' it was that she was expected to wear new looks and deliberate over designers and outfits during her time in the White House, while her husband got away with wearing the same suit to pretty much every event.

When asked about a viral picture of herself in a black gown at a state dinner, in which she can be seen adjusting her husband's bow tie, Michelle admitted: 'This is the unfair thing, you talk about Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, no matter what we do, he puts on that same tux.

'People take pictures of the shoes I wear, the bracelets, the necklace. They didn't comment that for eight years, he wore that same tux, same shoes,' she added.

Finding humour in fashion's double standards, she joked her husband was even 'proud' of how he could recycle his suits for events, and would regularly joke about how little time it took for him to get ready.

'He was like, "Hm I'm ready. I'm ready in ten minutes. How long did it take you?"' she told the crowd. 'And I'm like, "Get out of here."'

Michelle, we feel your pain.
