Mila Kunis Calls Out Jackie And Kelso Timeline In 'That ‘90s Show'

If you were a fan of the iconic Noughties TV hit, That '70s Show, and haven’t already binged the Netflix reboot, That ‘90s Show, what have you been doing since it dropped on the streaming service last Thursday [19th January]?

Well, if you’ve still to catch up, there are some spoilers to follow. Now, as you may remember, the That ‘70s Show series finale ended with Mila Kunis’ character, Jackie, ultimately choosing to get together with Fez – played by Wilmer Valderrama.

However, in the very first episode of the new 10-episode reboot, we find out that Jackie and her ex-boyfriend Kelso – who was famously played by Kunis’ now real-life husband, Ashton Kutcher – are married and have a son together.

Needless to say, this left many viewers a bit stunned, albeit happy about the decision.

During an episode, we get an explanation for the breakup when Fez and matriarch Kitty Forman – played by Debra Jo Rupp – discuss it as she takes a seat in his hairdressing salon chair. Kitty asks Fez about what happened with him and Jackie, and he reveals that Jackie broke up with him almost right after that final episode, during a trip that they took to Jamaica. She then headed home to get back together with Kelso.

However, do the show’s timelines now make sense when we factor in Jackie and Kelso’s son, Jay – played by Star Mace Coronel – being sixteen in 1995? As ScreenRant has observed, that timing would technically overlap with the end of Jackie’s relationship with Fez, with That ‘70s Show’s final episode being set at the end of 1979.

This decision also came as a shock to the cast, with Mila Kunis revealing in a recent interview with Access Hollywood that: 'My husband and I are together in [the new show], which is weird 'cause we shouldn't have been,' she said.

'You know what, I called BS. I was like, "My character would be with Fez". I think that I ended up with Wilmer's character. And I was like, "Why are you and I together?"' Kunis added.

'And also, he was married when '70s ended, to Shannon Elizabeth's character, I think. Now we're like 20 years – no, 16 years later, whatever it is – and now we're married with a kid. And I was like, "I don't know about this one",' she explained.

Whatever the decision, we’re definitely happy to see Jackie and Kelso back on our screens together again, even if their scene was a bit too brief for our liking.
