Mrs. American Pie tells the story of a woman reconstructing her identity in the early 1970s and seeking to obtain higher social status. And let's just say it's destined to become your new obsession.

Setting her sights on America's most exclusive table, protagonist Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) attempts to cross the line that isolates her from a world of indulgence.

What will she sacrifice to get a seat at the table? We'll soon find out.

The Apple period comedy mini-series stars the likes of American Horror Story's Kaia Gerber and Big Little Lies' Laura Dern.

Here's everything you need to know about Mrs. American Pie:

What's the Mrs. American Pie plot?

The mini series focuses on impossibly glamorous people with unattainable lives during the power keg era of the early 1970s and follows Simmons desperate mission to gain a seat at America's most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society.

As she attempts to shift from her humble life to one of extravagance, the series poses questions such as, who gets a seat at the table? How do you get a seat at the table? And what will you sacrifice to get there?

When will Mrs. American Pie be released?

While there's no exact release date as of yet, we've learned that it's set to be aired in 2022.

Who stars in Mrs. American Pie?

The cast includes Dern (Jurassic World Dominion) Carol Burnett (Annie), Ricky Martin (American Crime Story), Amber Chardae Robinson (Judas and the Black Messiah), Allison Janney (Bombshell), Gerber and Leslie Bibb (The Lost Husband)

Mrs. American Pie was developed by Dern and her producing partner Jayme Lemons through their Jaywalker Pictures banner, meanwhile Abe Sylvia is writing, executive producing, and showrunning the series.

Tate Taylor will direct and executive produce with his producing partner John Norris via their Wyolah Entertainment banner.

What have the cast of Mrs. American Pie said about the mini series?

Gerber has admitted to feeling 'immense pressure' filming Mrs. American Pie. During an interview with Flaunt magazine, published in September, she said: 'I don't think I'm funny, but somehow I'm doing comedy.

'And I'm just waiting - maybe people will figure out one day I'm not funny, but I'm riding it as long as I can.

'I think what I realised is you can't be in on the joke if you want to be funny. Because I never feel funny, and then afterwards, I see people laughing and I'm like, "That was serious." And maybe that's the key to it, or maybe that's my way? Everything is serious to me.'

Gerber also spoke about what it's like working with an all-star cast including Burnett, Dern, Wiig and Martin, saying: 'It's my first time working with an ensemble - all people that I look up to so much, in the way that I grew up watching them.'

She continued to gush: 'I mean, like, Kristen Wiig and Laura Dern who, you know, is Laura Dern. Then Carol Burnett. I mean The Carol Burnett Show is… I just sit there, and I just watch how everyone works. I remember working with Sarah Paulson. I had one day where I worked with her on American Horror Story.

'I was dead. I was beheaded and I had, like, this big orb ball over my head, but I just laid there, because I wanted to see how she worked. And the way that she commanded the space, and everything was thought out. I learn so much from just watching people. Everyone works so differently, too.'

Elsewhere in the interview, Gerber spoke about how liberating it feels to be acting after he 'insecure' years as a teen model.

'I was closed for a very long time, I think, in order to do that job, and also to be someone that people looked at. Especially being so young - I was 16. I did not expect the success that I was fortunate to have,' she said.

'It's like I'm allowed to scream at somebody with no real world consequences, and I'm allowed to cry, and I'm allowed to get angry, or be overly happy - those were not things that I felt I could do. I had an acting teacher once say, "We're not directing air traffic, so we can make mistakes." What a cool thing to be able to do?'

Is there a trailer for Mrs. American Pie?
