Actor and director Olivia Wilde has opened up about the difficulties of coparenting with her ex, Jason Sudeikis.

To recap, the pair have had a difficult few months with Sudeikis making headlines earlier this year when custody papers were served to Wilde whilst she was on stage. On Tuesday 26 April, Wilde made an appearance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas but as she was giving her speech to the crowd someone walked on stage and handed her a brown envelope with the words 'personal and confidential' printed on the front.

Visibly confused, Wilde took the envelope and is believed to have said: "This is for me? Is this a script?" However, it was later revealed that the envelope had, in fact, contained custody papers filed by her former partner Sudeikis, whom Wilde dated for nine years and shares two children with.

Now, Wilde has said she’s putting their strained relationship to the side to focus on the children. "My priority is them," she said on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week. "As long as they're happy and they're healthy."

"My ex and I, we agree on that. They are everything to us," the 38-year-old added. But, she admitted that it’s still "tough" to coparent with her former husband.

"I think, you know, reshaping a family is tricky," she told Clarkson. "It's hard, but it's doable," Wilde went on. "If you can surround them with so much love, then it's OK. But, you know, it's tricky because we're not doing it in private."

Speaking about the "stuff that is out there" – namely her relationship with Sudeikis and the drama surrounding her new movie, Don’t Worry Darling – Wilde says that actively avoiding what’s being said about her helps protect her mental health.

"I mean, I'm not on the internet, I'm not on Instagram," she revealed. "So I think that really helps, and just focusing on what's real, your trusted circle of friends, what's real, things that make you happy, people you love, people who love you, and like, just keeping your mind on what's real. I think that's how I get through it."

Wilde has been in a relationship with singer Harry Styles since last year, the pair met on the set of Don't Worry Darling but have kept their romance relatively out of the limelight.
