Just a quick little history recap, Edgar Allan Poe was a poet and writer, perhaps best well know for his poem "The Raven" and his collection of short stories including The Fall of The House of Usher. He joined the military in 1827, aged 18 and remained in it for the next four years, before leaving to continue his writing career. Harry Melling portrays Poe in his final year in the military in The Pale Blue Eye.

As well as looking pretty similar to the poet, people have been tweeting to say Harry's performance as Poe is "Oscar worthy" and "excellent". One person tweeted: "The Pale Blue Eye was so good. Harry Melling is one of our most hard-working English actor, always delivers. Christian Bale being excellent as always. Harry Lawtey- Industry stans we’re up. Really enjoyed the story, really well directed, 10/10 movie."

Another agreed saying: "Harry Melling is the man to watch. A big, broad, deep performance as Poe that stays with you."

And another said: "Watched The Pale Blue Eye and I am very impressed by Harry Melling’s ability to steal every scene he’s in when almost all the scenes are with Christian Bale. I went into this watching for CB [Christian Bale] and Gillian Anderson and finished it w a deep respect and admiration for Harry."

In case you didn't recognise him, Harry Melling started off his career as Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter movies.

Since then he's appeared in Netflix's The Devil All The Time and The Queen's Gambit.
