Peter Kay hints at Car Share return during first live show in four years
Peter Kay hinted at a potential revival of Car Share during his first live show in four years.
The 48-year-old comedian was doing two special charity shows at Manchester's O2 Apollo venue over the weekend to raise money for 20-year-old Laura Nuttall, who has aggressive brain cancer glioblastoma multiforme.
During a Q&A, one fan asked the comic if he would consider doing a Christmas special of the BBC sitcom, which began in 2015 and concluded in 2018, and he coyly replied that he "might do".
Speaking about Car Share, also starring Sian Gibson, Peter said: "Of all the things I've ever done, that's my favourite of all. I love being with Sian and we had a good laugh."
He added it would be "a lot of work" to film in a car with Covid-19 restrictions in place.
Peter also revealed he had written two episodes of Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, which he starred in alongside Paddy McGuinness back in 2004 - and revealed that while they had not seen production yet, he might choose to make them now.
The matinee and evening charity shows on Saturday sold out in 30 minutes. His last tour in 2017 was cancelled due to "unforeseen family circumstances".
When he came on stage at the 3,500-capacity venue, the Bolton comic was giving a rousing reception - something he immediately joked about.
"I've never in my life had a standing ovation when I came on," he laughed. "I'm going to go away for four more years."
Official funds raised from the event will go to Nuttall's treatment and The Brain Tumour Charity.
Peter's planned "dance-a-thons", which were cancelled last year due to the pandemic, have been rescheduled to 2022.
