Today (15 September) marks Prince Harry's 36th birthday, and what a big year it has been for the youngest son of the Duke of Cornwall.

He moved to Los Angeles with his wife, Meghan Markle and their son, now one-year-old Archie, signed a huge deal with Netflix and, according to Omid Scobie, co-author of the recent Finding Freedom, he is now 'happier than ever'.

But it does mean that he will be celebrating his big day away from his family and friends this year, and so the birthday messages piling up from his loved ones must seem all-the-more poignant.

Leading the charge with the messages of congratulations, his brother and sister-in-law, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge — who were last seen in public with the younger prince at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in London in March — shared a photo of themselves laughing during a running race with the Prince, and the caption read: 'Wishing a very happy birthday to Prince Harry today!' accompanied by birthday cake and balloon emojis.

And it seems that the photo — taken when the royal trio stopped by the start line of the London Marathon Community Track in support of Heads Together, their then-campaign to highlight mental health in 2017 — has inspired nostalgia amongst royal fans.

'Can't wait to see them all together again,' wrote one follower, while another added: 'I remember this day, it looked like such fun!'

But the Cambridges weren't the only royals to send birthday wishes to Harry. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh wrote on the Royal Family's account: 'Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy birthday!' while sharing a photo of Harry with his grandmother at a Queen’s Young Leaders reception at Buckingham Palace in 2017.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall also shared two photos of Harry to celebrate the occasion.

Due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, we're sure that Harry's birthday celebrations will be a low-key affair, but we hope he has a lovely day and wish him all the best for the coming year!
