Princess of Wales pairs £35 high street dress with custom coat for Christmas Day outfit
The Royal Family were out in full force on Sunday for their annual Christmas Day celebrations, seen by many doing the traditional walk to the church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, and of course the Princess of Wales led the way in the style stakes.
Kate, 40, decided on a deep khaki green ensemble, and the shoes-of-the-moment: a pair of suede, heeled calf-high boots.
Most of the years since their marriage in 2011, Christmas Day for the Prince and Princess of Wales has been spent at the Norfolk estate where the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh preferred to spend their winter holidays.
In 2012, however, the couple spent the festive season with the Middleton family in Berkshire, and forewent the annual visit to the church of St Mary Magdalene on the Norfolk estate, and the global pandemic placed restrictions on gatherings in 2020, leaving the family to celebrate Christmas with just the five of them at their country home Anmer Hall.
This year, the Cambridge family returned to the Norfolk estate to be with the extended family for the first Christmas since the passing of Queen Elizabeth. The three Cambridge children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, were present as well as Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice’s two young children.

Whilst the years have changed and the amount of children has grown, Kate’s formulaic approach to her Christmas Day dressing has remained steadfastly the same in the past 11 years.
Her go-to style, an A-line coat dress, is the centrepiece – often in a festive shade or with a winter embellishment, such as faux fur – and then the trimmings come in the form of hats, fascinators and headbands.

And her 2022 outfit is no exception. Kate’s bespoke Philip Treacy hat matched her custom Alexander McQueen coat dress, but featured a subtle feather detail at the trim to give it some added festive pzazz. She accessorised with a new pair of Sézane earrings and an old pair of brown suede Dents gloves to go with her Stuart Weitzman boots.
Beneath the warm layers, the mother of three reportedly wore a high street knitted midi dress, showing her full ability to master the skill of high/low dressing. The Mango dress comes in at £35, and was the ideal base for her Christmas Day outfit.
