Who will play King George in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story?

Bridgerton season 2 was everything fans wanted and more, thanks to the brilliant chemistry between Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma, and all the hidden meanings in each scene. Viewers were also obsessed with a truly iconic character: Queen Charlotte.

Which might be why Netflix have just announced a prequel focussing on her origins, called Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, explaining exactly she came to be the kingpin of Regency society. YES. Here's everything we know about the Bridgerton spin-off so far, from expected release date to storyline and more.

What is Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story's expected release date?

Sadly there's no news on when the Queen Charlotte spin-off will be released, but the good news is we now know filming has officially wrapped. In August 2022, five months after the prequel was announced, director Tom Verica wrote on Twitter, "That's a wrap. This production, this cast, this crew…just wait."

What this means for a UK release date is unclear, but fans are hoping it could be on screens in spring 2023, making it the perfect filler while we wait for Bridgerton season 3.

"Introducing Corey Mylchreest as King George in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story," the official Netflix account revealed on 7th February 2023. King George is Charlotte's husband, who isn't around in the Bridgerton series due to ill health.

On 8th July 2022, Deadline revealed the prequel had found its young Violet Ledger: Connie Jenkins-Greig. The actor will feature as the recurring character, played by Ruth Gemmell in Bridgerton, who is apparently the "kind and inquisitive" teenager of parents Vivian and Lord Ledger, who will be played by The Wheel Of Time's Katie Brayben (The Wheel of Time) and Death In Paradise's Keir Charles.

When the prequel was announced, it was revealed Golda Rosheuvel will be reprising her role of Queen Charlotte, and West End performer India Amarteifio will play her younger self. Netflix also confirmed some other fan favourites will play a part.

"Additionally, Lady Danbury @andoh_adjoa and Arsema Thomas as her younger self will also be participating in the social season, alongside none other than Ruth Gemmell as Lady Bridgerton and Corey Mylchreest as a young King George," they added. YES.
