Renée Zellweger Wears a Black Gucci Suit and Messy Ponytail in Hollywood
Renée Zellweger continues to prove that great style doesn't need to mean colorful extravagance.
The actress attended NBCUniversal's For You Consideration event in Hollywood Wednesday, where she reunited with The Thing About Pam castmates Josh Duhamel and Judy Greer.
For the night, the two-time Oscar winner wore a sleek black wool Gucci Eschatology suit, consisting of a low-cut blazer with gold buttons and structured pants. She finished the effortlessly elegant look with matching black pumps. Zellweger accessorized with some chunky rings, kept her makeup to a minimum, and she put her hair up in a messy ponytail held together by a black ribbon.
The ensemble was chosen by her stylist, Petra Flannery, who also styles Emma Stone, and who recently dressed Zellweger for her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. To the live interview, the Judy star wore a gold Dolce & Gabbana minidress, matching golden heels, and David Webb jewelry. Her hair was also swept up into a messy pony.
March covergirl Zellweger told Harper's BAZAAR earlier this year all about her life since the COVID-19 pandemic, how she spent most of her time gardening at home and taking care of herself, and how after months of relaxing, she jumped back into big screen action.
The actress stars as the murderous protagonist in the prime-time NBC miniseries The Thing About Pam, adapted from a podcast which was itself adapted from five Dateline NBC episodes. It's a bit of a diversion for Zellweger, who made her career by starring in cult-favorite romantic comedies such as the Bridget Jones' Diary series.
"I wanted to do something that was lighter, which sounds absurd, because this is, ya know, based on a horrific crime," Zellweger told BAZAAR.
"What makes Pam so fascinating is how benign she appeared," she added. "Everybody feels like, ‘I know her. I know that lady.’ Someone who looks like your next-door neighbor or the lady who would babysit you turns out to make some choices that are, to put it kindly, illegal. This person was so outrageous, this sense of entitlement—I thought, okay, as an actress, that’s fun."
