Richard Gere is reportedly expecting a child with his 35-year-old wife Alejandra Silva, at the age of 69.

Spanish news outlet ABC reports that the couple are expecting their first child. It is unknown whether the child will be raised in Silva's home country of Spain, or in the US, where they spend the majority of their time.

The Pretty Woman star married the Spanish publicist after a four-year relationship earlier this year, in a civil ceremony in Madrid.

The couple then celebrated their wedding with family and friends in Gere's home near New York. "I am the happiest man in the universe, how could I not be?" he told reporters at the time.

Both Gere and Silva have children from previous relationships. The actor has an 18 year-old son, Homer, with former wife Carey Lowell, while Silva has a five year-old son from her relationship with ex-husband Govind Friedland – the son of mining magnate Robert Friedland – called Alberto.

The pair's relationship first became public in June 2015 and it is believed that they met when Gere visited the boutique hotel owned by Silva and her then-husband Friedland.

Gere and Silva are yet to comment on the news.
